How UV Direct Printing Can Improve Your Business Signage
At Blast Media, we are always looking for ways to improve what we do and offer to our clients. And we know how important sharp, crisp, contrasting images are for custom retail signage and other large format printing jobs. We want to offer the very best, and that’s why we offer UV direct printing. It’s a game changer!
UV direct printing is one of the latest technological advances in the printing world today.
Ultra Violet printing uses special inks that have been formulated to dry quickly and cure when they are exposed to UV light.
What’s so great about that?
This type of printer and its flatbed design enables super high-quality printing directly onto materials like acrylic, foam board, aluminum (and more!) in record speed and with the extremely sharp detail.
How does it work?
UV printers use ultraviolet curing technology, which was originally designed and created for gel manicures! The technology was adapted so that as paper (or other materials referred to as substrate) passes through the printing press and receives wet ink, it is followed closely (almost immediately) by UV light.
To get really technical about it, precision ink placement is delivered using advanced print head technology, in which microscopic elements (such as crystals and ceramics) are mounted behind the print head nozzles which eject precise quantities of ink onto the print media.
This technology provides never before seen degrees of control over ink delivery, while also creating perfectly spherical dots at different droplet sizes for extraordinary control over print quality, colour density and finish.
Whether or not you’ve ever gotten a gel manicure, you might know that UV light “cures” the ink, making it dry and hard. Because the UV light dries the ink almost instantly, the ink doesn’t bleed, seep, or spread. That’s why UV printed images and text result in incredibly sharp detail. And when it comes to your business and signage needs, we want you to have the most eye-catching, attention-grabbing, effective signage possible!
What are some of the advantages of UV printing?
More materials to choose from UV direct printing technology allows printing on a wide range of materials and shapes, including acrylic and other naturally occurring and synthetic substrates (paper, PVC, plastic, acrylic, metal, wood, canvas, board, leather, textile, slate, driftwood, bamboo and more) as well as flat, curved, and cylindrical (you name it!)
It’s so fast!
Because the ink instantly cures and dries, printed materials are ready for use as soon as they come off the printer! Plus, there is very little setup required – switching between products can be done in minutes so the turnaround time is definitely speedy.
Environmentally friendly
In keeping with our commitments to reduce our footprint and provide green services, UV printers are right in step – the special inks emit very little VOCs (Volatile organic compounds are emitted as gases from some solids or liquids, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects).
Long lasting printing
UV printers produce printed materials that are improved in durability, flexibility, and scratch resistance. When it comes to running a business, we know that you want the best bang for your buck, and that means signage that is going to withstand the elements.
